EQUITY CROWDFUNDING IN ISRAEL
Another investment channel that has picked up speed is equity crowdfunding for startups -
a funding method that allows for a pool of investors to invest in high-tech startups as a group,
receiving equity in the company they invest in. OurCrowd, founded by Israeli entrepreneur
Jon Medved, has a long list of dozens of Israeli startups in different sectors to which hundreds
of investors from all over the world contribute.
THE ERA OF THE ISRAELI IPO
In 2012, Israel had more companies listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange than any other
country, expect for the US and China. Today, Israeli companies continue to impress investors
with massive initial public offerings (IPOs) on international capital markets. Israeli “unicorns,”
or companies with billion dollar valuations, are a source of pride for the Israeli industry and
continue to inspire foreign investors with how well their IPOs perform on foreign markets.
The hope is that their success will help foster nascent multinational companies in Israel.
