AN EXPERT IN EVERY FIELD

From the leading agricultural technologies, to more traditional IT tech, and on to

breakthrough medical devices, a journey through Israel’s diversified high-tech industry

will convince you that no two Israeli entrepreneurs are alike!

INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGIES

The most “traditional” of all technological fields, Israel continues to prove that its high-tech

talent out-computes the rest.

Take the basis of computing technology - the language of code - which was revolutionized

in Israel, with a professor from Israel’s Ben Gurion University in the Negev inventing the

code for sending emails. Many of the anti-virus and firewall protection services that we use

today were improved upon with Israeli technologies. The dual processors that we use in our

portable laptop computers, tablets and smartphones are based on the Israeli invention of

the first microprocessor for Intel, and more recently the creation of the Skylake processor

that is set to transform the performance, battery life and graphics of standard PCs.

Experience in the military with complex communications networks has also been productive

for Israeli entrepreneurs. The most famous might be the SMS, the quick messages we send as

signals on our phones, which was invented in Israel. Other contributions include the concept

of “crowdsourcing”, or gathering information from individual users to benefit the group,

first applied in an application by the Israeli team at Waze, a navigation app acquired by

Google for nearly $1 billion. Companies leading global communications trends like Motorola,

Samsung and Philips have established R&D centers in Israel to maximize on the country’s

innovative potential.
