Private venture capital firms in Israel have also seen noted success, such as Pitango Venture
Capital, established in 1993. Today, Pitango manages nearly $1.2 billion through its various
funds, investing in leading technology companies like Anobit, which was acquired by Apple,
and Boxee, acquired by Samsung. Other notable firms include Genesis Partners, Giza Venture
Capital, Glilot Capital and Jerusalem Venture Partners.
International venture capital firms began to enter the Israeli market in the 2000s with notable
firms, like Sequoia Capital founding their first office outside of the United States in Israel.
For others, like Bessemer Venture Partners and Battery Ventures, establishing a presence
in Israel was a no-brainer due to the large number of successful local startups with innovative
solutions in a wide variety of fields.
