    ·         Israeli population is 75.4% Jewish, 20.6% Arab and 4% others

    ·         In 2012 the population in Israel grew by 1.8%

    ·         In 2012 approximately 170,000 babies were born in Israel

    ·         In 2012 about 16,500 new immigrants arrived in Israel

     

    On 31 December 2012 the population in Israel is estimated at 7.981 million people[1]. Of these, 6.015 million are Jews (75.4%), 1.648 million are Arabs (20.6%) and 319,000 belong to other groups[2]. These numbers are based on estimates gathered by the Central Bureau of Statistics.

     

    During 2012 the Israeli population grew by 145 thousand people, a growth rate of 1.8%, consistent with the rate of growth in the last decade.


    [1]  Total figure does not include the population of foreign workers and their families, which numbered 203,000 at the end of 2011. Also excluded are people who entered or are residing illegally.
