STATEMENT ON THE FIRES IN PAFOS

The Ambassador on the fire in Paphos

    "It's our duty and honor to stand by our Cypriot friends and extend a hand of assistance to them, just the way they did when Israel had to combat the massive fire on Mount Carmel in 2010" , the Ambassador of Israel to Cyprus  Yael Ravia Zadok said this morning.
    Ambassador Ravia-Zadok was present at the Airbase Andreas Papandreou, monitoring the operations of the Israeli forces taking place from early in the morning.
     
    Four Israeli firefighter aircrafts landed at 8.00 at the Airbase, In order to contribute to the efforts of the local Forces to set under control the fire at Paphos area.
    Cyprus has reached out to Israel on Saturday evening, asking for help in fighting a large fire in the city of Paphos.
    Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed Israel's firefighting forces to send air tanker planes to Cyprus with haste.
