    ​Former Deputy Director General of Israel's Governmental Authority for Water Mr  Oded Fixler delivered a presentation at the House of Representatives on Thrusday 18 October 2018. Oded Fixler's presentation was titled: 
     
    “Intelligent water management and the implementation of innovative technologies for regional development”
     
    A roundtable discussion and exchange of views between MPs, government officials and academics followed.  
     
    The President of the House of Representatives Mr. Dimitris Syllouris addressed the meeting, while the discussion that followed was coordinated by the Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr. Michalis Giorgalas.
     
    Oded Fixler talked about the current state of using and exploiting water resources in Israel, with particular reference to the ongoing project for enriching the Dead Sea with water from the Red Sea.
     
    Finally, Mr Fixler stressed that "water should be a means of co-operation, not a cause for dispute," adding that "water resources can be a catalyst for peace and co-operation among the countries of the region, because water, as a good, knows no borders."

    Earlier, Mr Fixler was received by the President of the House of Representatives Mr. Dimitris Syllouris. The two men discussed ways of combating water scarcity, which has become a big issue in recent years for both countries.
     
    Oded Fixler was accompanied by the Ambassador of the State of Israel to the Republic of Cyprus Mr. Shmuel (Sammy) Revel.
