A special musical event between Israel and Cyprus was held on Sunday, 30 June 2019, at the Pattichion Municipal Amphitheater of Larnaca. Renowned Cypriot singer Stella Georgiadou and popular Israeli singer Shlomi Saranga joined together and sang wonderful Greek songs.

The concert was co-organized by the Embassy of Israel in Cyprus and the Municipality of Larnaca, as part of the broader co-operation and joint implementation of actions in the fields of education, culture, society, economy and tourism.

Around 700 people attended the event, among them, the Minister of Education and Culture Mr. Kostas Champiaouris, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mrs. Vassiliki Anastasiadou, the Deputy Minister of Tourism Mr Savvas Perdios, the President of the Supreme Court, senior officials, members of the Diplomatic Corps and many friends of Israel.

Addressing the audience, the Ambassador of Israel to Cyprus Mr Sammy Revel noted that "with this concert we celebrate the friendship between Cyprus and Israel, and the close connection between our two countries through music," and expressed the will for broader tightening of the ties between the two countries.

Delivering a speech on behalf of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, the Minister of Education and Culture Mr. Kostas Champiaouris said “it is evident that Cyprus and Israel are indeed in tune, and not just in music,” adding that “the friendship between Cyprus and Israel has truly blossomed in recent years. In the context of this blossoming friendship and cooperation, our cultural and people-to-people ties have grown tremendously, and I am confident that they will continue to expand, including through such events.”

Finally, Mayor of Larnaca Mr. Andreas Vyras referred to the close relationship between Cyprus and Israel, pointing out that “this evening is extremely important as it does not only mark the continuance of a stronger bonding between Larnaca and Israel but it is a sincere action indicative of the fact that the relationship and friendship between us remains as strong as ever.”

The concert of friendship was a memorable evening full of sounds of Greek music, that binds Israelis and Cypriots.
