Last week, Ambassador Sammy Revel and the Minister of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth Prodromos Prodromou attended the awards ceremony of the Pancyprian Creative Expression Student Competition entitled “Moments of Humanity in the Darkness of the Holocaust”.

Despite an irregular school year, many students participated in the competition and they were able to produce touching and emotional pieces or art.

Quoting Socrates 'Υπάρχει ένα μόνο καλό, η γνώση, και ένα μόνο κακό, η αμάθεια" Ambassador Revel emphasized the importance of Holocaust education stating that "We have to know the past in order to build a solid foundation for the future".

"We welcome Cyprus acquiring Observer status in the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) and we are looking forward in working closely together to combat all forms of discrimination, including anti-Semitism", Ambassador Revel said.

Minister Prodromou stressed that it is very important to preserve the historical memory of such a defining event in human history, as the Holocaust”, adding that nowadays, there seems to be a greater need to prevent attempts of falsifying or even denying the facts".

Warmest congratulations to all the students that participated and excelled in the competition.
