The Embassy of Israel in Nicosia celebrated this year’s Hanukah event, the Feast of Lights, by doing something different. With a modest candle lighting ceremony at the Pediatrics Ward of Archibishop Makarios Hospital, on Tuesday 8th December 2015, Ambassador Yael Ravia-Zadok handed out a donation for the needs of hospitalized children.
“Let us hope”, said Ambassador Ravia-Zadok, “that the message of Hanukah, which is the victory of Light over Darkness, bring its message to each and every heart and show the way to a brighter and more meaningful life”.
Along the lines of the meaning of this precious, the Head of the Israeli Diplomatic Mission in Cyprus, in the presence of Cyprus Health Minister Mr George Pamboridis and other officials, shared with the kids and their families, the doctors and paramedical staff, the message that “even a little light can cast out a lot of darkness”.
Furthermore, a medical clown therapist, member of the Dream Doctors team, visited the hospitalized children in the Pediatrics Wards of the Makarion hospital in Nicosia, as well that at the Limassol General Hospital, and gave an individual and intimate performance in each room.
The Dream Doctors Project began in 2002 at Hadassah Hospital, in Jerusalem, and involves the integration of medical clowning into the hospital healthcare system, in various medical units, as a procedure to improve patient wellbeing and advance care.
