Annual luncheon
of the Cyprus - Israel Business Association
The Cyprus - Israel Business Association, which is
under the auspices of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the
Embassy of Israel, organized a business lunch at the Royal Hall (Nicosia) on
January 19, 2023 with Tom Dan (Danino), Deputy Director General of the Israeli
Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology as guest speaker.
The lunch was attended by the Ambassador of Israel,
the Secretary General of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce, the Chief Scientist of
Research & Innovation, the Governor of the Central Bank as well as other
officials and members of the Cyprus - Israel Business Association and a large
number of Cypriot and foreign businessmen.
The President of the Business Association, Christakis
Papavasiliou, introducing the speaker, added the importance of strengthening
relations in the fields of research and innovation and of gaining insights from
Israel’s experience with artificial intelligence.
The Secretary General of the Cyprus Chamber of
Commerce Marios Tsiakkis and the Ambassador of Israel Oren Anolik also
addressed the event.
In his speech, Tom Dan focused on Israel's national
artificial intelligence program and its importance in developing new,
cutting-edge technologies.
During his visit to Cyprus, Tom Dan had the
opportunity to meet with the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and
Digital Policy Kyriakos Kokkinos as well as the Chief Scientist Nikolas
Mastrogiannopoulos and exchanged ideas for deepening the cooperation between
Cyprus and Israel.
