On Sunday, 13 November, 2022, we marked 62 years since the first match between Cyprus
and Israel (1960).
At a moving commemoration event, Israel’s football legend Abraham
Menczel joined his Cypriot fellow players Panikos Krystallis, Andreas
Christodoulou Pakkos, Andreas Kakoullis and Nikos
Eleftheriades, in sharing their memories from that special first game.
Listening to them, reminded all of us that our peoples connection
goes way back.
Limassol Mayor Nicos Nicolaides and the Ambassador of Israel Oren Anolik awarded honorary plaques to Abraham Menczel and the four Cypriot🇨🇾
players.
