After Limassol and Nicosia, the outdoor
photographic exhibition "Belief" by the renowned Israeli photographer
Natan Dvir is hosted at Finikoudes in Larnaca, where it will remain until July
2, 2017.
Viewers of the photographic exhibition will come across scenes of places
of worship, as well as images of ceremonies and ritual mysteries, from various
religious groups that make up the multicultural society of Israel.
The photographer depicts Israel in the light of the long and complex history of its social and ethnic pluralities. Holy sites situated throughout Israel make the (physically) small country very important for Jews, Christians, Muslims and many other religious groups.
Fascinated by the extreme situations people reach, in the pursuit and in defense of their beliefs, Dvir explores the various ways of how cultural communities practice their beliefs, the places their beliefs take them to and the scenes in which they take part.
Dvir's intention was not simply to document the specific event that is photographed. The photo project “Belief” promotes self-reflection, since the viewers can relate to the images on a more universal level and contemplate the power of belief and its place in their own world.
The exhibition “Belief” is supported by the Municipalities of Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos.
"Belief" is organized by the Embassy of Israel in Cyprus, in cooperation with BPRarts Art & Cultural Management.
