On Tuesday, July 6th
2021, the Ambassador of Israel in Cyprus Mr Shmuel Revel and Mrs Osnat Revel
hosted a Farewell Reception at the Landmark Hotel in Nicosia.
Ambassador Revel and
his wife welcomed friends from all over the island, including H.E Ms Annita
Demetriou President of the House of Representatives, Energy Minister Natasa
Pilides, Defence Minister Charalambos Petrides, Deputy Tourism Minister Savvas Perdios, Deputy Research and
Innovation Minister Kyriacos Kokkinos, Members of Parliament, the Mayor of Nicosia, the Heads of the Police and the
National Guard, high level government officials, Ambassadors, members from the
business community and other distinguished guests.
Addressing the guests
in Greek, Ambassador Revel expressed his appreciation for the friendship of the
Cypriot people and stressed the importance of relations between Israel and
Cyprus. “Throughout my term in office, I visited villages, towns, but also
the mountains, Troodos, and enjoyed tasty local
cousin. Everywhere I met friends, wherever I went, all over Cyprus. I especially thank my friends in Cyprus, for
their support in difficult times, but also in better times,” Ambassador Revel said.
The Ambassador thanked the
President, Mr. Nicos Anastasiades, the Minister of Foreign
Affairs, Mr. Nicos Christodoulides and the Government of Cyprus for their
commitment to the development of relations with Israel.
In her remarks, H.E Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry
Natasa Pilides, expressed her appreciation to Ambassador Revel for the work
done to significantly enhance Israel - Cyprus relations in the political and economic fields,
as well as people to people contacts. Finally, she wished the Ambassador all
the best for the future.
