Edwina Sandys, an internationally acclaimed sculptor, was recently in
Israel in order to look for the perfect venue for her next sculpture.
While in Israel, Sandys met with Prime Minister Netanyahu and President
Peres.
For over 30 years, Sandys has created art that has reached wide
audiences – from UN centers in New York, Geneva, and Vienna to pieces in
public spaces such as the Brooklyn Museum of Art and New York's
Cathedral of St. John the Divine.

Major works include, but are not limited to: Pillars of Justice

Israel is excited about the prospects of Sandys' next statue to be incorporated into the Israeli landscape.
President Peres expressed his gratitude for Sandys' trip to Israel
and her family's connection to the country: “We are glad to see you.
Churchill, for us, is a statesman who made a breakthrough in human
history. The Jewish people owe a great debt to your grandfather for the
historical path he was instrumental in entrenching. Our nation is truly
grateful to your family.”
The president shared his impression of the huge impact that meeting
Churchill made on David Ben-Gurion and promised to locate the emotional
letter Ben-Gurion had written after the meeting. Sandys presented Peres
with a book of her works, while the president commended her decision to
place her sculpture in Israel.
