About the Consulate General of Israel in New York:
• The Consulate General of Israel in New York is the official representative of Israel in the States
of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Delaware.
• The Consulate works to enhance ties between the US and Israel based on working partnerships
and the understanding of the values that unite us.
• The Consulate operates as an extension of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquartered in
Jerusalem and in close coordination with the Embassy of Israel in Washington DC.
The Role:
• We are looking for a candidate for the full time position of Senior Assistant of Government
Affairs in our New York office.
• The Director of Government Affairs reports to the Deputy Consul General and plays a critical
role in creating and enhancing ties between the State of Israel and government and elected
offices in the five states.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain and strengthen the working relations with government offices as well as elected
officials within the five states.
• Monitor current events relevant to the political and government officials.
• Raise public awareness of important political and social issues in Israel.
• Craft events, conferences, and seminars that benefit political institutions and other key
government stakeholders in the five states.
• Plan, organize, and direct programming and activities related to important social causes and
engage new and diverse audiences.
• Draft timely written proposals and recommendations in a clear and logical manner.
• Advise the Consul General and his Deputy on political affairs.
Qualifications:
• College graduate
• Previous experience in government relations or communications
• Highly organized and detail oriented
• Highly skilled in written and oral communication
• A team player with the ability to self-motivate
• Proficient multi-tasker with the ability to prioritize tasks
• Comfortable with change in the workplace
• Stay up-to-date with international trends and developments
• Understanding and utilizing of social media to achieve goals and willingness to learn new skills
