The Embassy of Israel in India is celebrating International Women’s Day with a month full of women empowerment activities in Delhi throughout March. The embassies’ activity ranges from Culture to Agriculture, from Media to Academia.

Women Empowerment Month with the Embassy of Israel began on Tuesday (6) with a Power Brunch with distinguished women from the Indian press and media, wherein editors and senior journalists shared their experience as women in their field and the diplomatic team at the Embassy of Israel spoke about working in an all-women political team, except for the Ambassador.

It continues on International Women’s Day (8) with a culture event - screening of Israeli short film “Ahotcha (Big Sister)” at Amity University, followed by a talk with the director, Ms. Michal Gassner. The following week (16), 3 Israeli films all directed by women will be screened in an Israeli Film Festival in cooperation with Hyderabad Film Club.

The same week welcomes Mango expert, Ms. Timna Shoer, who will be joining two more experts (vegetables and beekeeping) already visiting India this week, in contributing to the Indo-Israeli cooperation on agriculture.

On March 12th, the Chair of the Planning and Budgeting Committee of the Council for Higher Education of Israel, Prof. Yaffa Zilbershats, will be visiting Delhi to promote further partnership in the field of academia between India and Israel.

These events taking place during Women’s Empowerment Month are a sample of the varied and expanding ties between India and Israel. Following the historic visits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to India, the people to people bonds have been strengthened and every month interactions between our business, academia and cultural communities are bringing India and Israel closer together.

Ahead of this event filled month, Ambassador Daniel Carmon said, “The number of people to people interactions between India and Israel on a monthly basis is growing constantly. It is symbolic that many of the events in March involve innovative and creative women, who regardless of International Women’s Day or Month, are always at the forefront of our growing partnership in every field. I am so proud of my all women political team, probably one of the best I have known throughout the years.”
