Start JLM Finals 2017 India Finals

    The Embassy of Israel with the support of the Department of Science & Technology (Government of India), will hold the Start JLM (Jerusalem) India Finals on Thursday, September 28th, 2017, in New Delhi. This startup competition is looking for an upcoming Indian startup to take part in the first Start JLM program in Israel.
     
    Ahead of the event, Ambassador Daniel Carmon commented: “This start-up competition is one of many on the ground initiatives implementing the vision of increasing the exchanges between the Indian and Israeli innovation ecosystems, as expressed during PM Modi’s visit to Israel in July. We are excited to invite Indian start-ups to Israel’s ancient capital to explore one of the fastest growing innovation ecosystems in the world.”
     
    The first Start JLM competition has witnessed a remarkable response in India and has received more than 160 entries from all over the country. The five startups which have made it to the finals are TELLMATE, TrashCon, CareNx Innovations, RealVol & Mimyk. The winner’s prize is an all-expenses-paid trip to Israel for an innovation experience in the Start-Up Nation. The DST, in association with the Zone incubator, will award the five finalists an additional prize of special entry to one of its incubator programs in India.
    Start JLM is a global competition organized by Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Jerusalem Development Authority, which brings together promising young startups from 35 different countries to compete for the opportunity to take part in a 5-day startup boost camp in Jerusalem, Israel.

    Tellmate - Assisting Visually Impaired People

    Tellmate is a wearable vision device in form of glasses which will process in-front images of Visually Impaired Person, will convert it to sound and whisper in the ear using hearing aids. Visually Impaired will be able To walk around unfamiliar places; To avoid obstacles; To read books, newspaper, hoardings or any text in real-time and focus To get a much needed independence. A Visually Impaired Person wearing Tellmate Glasses will be able to read printed text. Tellmate’s camera will see the printed text through their eyes and will convert it to digital text using Optical Character Recognition and whisper to their ear using text to speech synthesis. Even if they are walking across a street, waiting for menu at restaurant they will be able to recognize the printed text through hearing which will give them self-confidence and a sense of security.

    TrashCon is a manufacturer of automated waste segregator.     elicient for the last mile care. CareNX is registered in 2015 and incubated at SINE, IIT Bombay. CareMother®, first product by CareNX, is a mobile pregnancy care platform. Till today, CareMother has 30,000 pregnancies registered on the platform. CareMother is disrupting healthcare delivery
    at doorstep by enabling 2X reach at 50% reduced operational cost for health institutions. Considering this opportunity in home based care and remote based care, CareNX has developed iNST – wearable for fetal heart monitoring with non-stress test during pregnancy. iNST will be marketed for consumers in cities and in the developed world with the aim of reducing prenatal births and making an impact.

    RealVol features a virtual reality (VR) based immersive walkthrough inside a CT or MRI volume. We use our own in-house renderer that optimizes dual rendering for real-time visualization in VR. State of the art graphics hardware and VR headsets are used to provide un-hindered diagnostics. We use advanced volumetric algorithms to directly convert 2D scan images to 3D volumes for interactive visualizations.

    Mimyk is a spin-off from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. We are incubated at the Society for Innovation and Development (SID), IISc. We work on developing immersive medical simulations for training healthcare practitioners. Our technology enables training healthcare professionals through the use of advanced simulation technology. We combine haptics, design, Virtual Reality (VR), and internet based content delivery model for providing engaging interactive medical simulations.
    Virtual Reality (VR) together with haptics offers an immersive, flexible, and cost-effective method for training doctors in endoscopy procedures. The current focus at Mimyk is an affordable and immersive endoscopy training device. Our team has research and design background and we associate with IISc research labs from where the core technology was conceived. To support our work we have raised government grants that support the idea to proof of concept development.
