Today, a date specially chosen to signify the relevance of innovation 24/7, the Embassy of Israel is holding the finals of the fifth Start TLV competition in India. This year’s theme – technologies with social impact to make our world a better place – is calling on Indian entrepreneurs who want to make a positive change in the world.

Following last year’s call for women entrepreneurs to attend the DLD conference in Tel Aviv, the potential of women-led start-ups in India was overwhelming. Therefore the Embassy of Israel has decided to keep the competition a tool to boost women-led startups in India. The response this year was doubled, with over 100 startups qualifying for a spot in the top 5.

Ambassador of Israel in India, Mr. Daniel Carmon commented on the eve of the competition: “Wonder Woman is more than just action and pyrotechnics – it’s about strong women contributing to their society and standing up to make the world a better place. Each of these women have developed technologies with a big social impact, with the potential to change not only India – but the entire world.”

This evening, one of five finalists will be awarded an all-expenses-paid trip to Israel where she will have a chance to create an innovation network with professionals and peers in the Start-Up Nation, and pitch her startup to potential investors. The finalists are Surabhi Srivastava founder of Innovision (Inceptor Technologies Pvt Ltd), Rajarajeshwari K founder of Artificial Learning Systems, Pratyusha Pareddy founder of NEMOCARE WELLNESS PVT LTD, Neha Rastogi founder of Agatsa and Kalyani Khona founder of Inclov Technologies Pvt Ltd.

This competition is held on the heels of Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Israel, in which innovation and people to people were high on the agenda. In this competition, we are combining the innovation of our nations and the development of people to people bonds. Start TLV is one of many avenues for India and Israel to bring together the ecosystems of Start-Up Nation and Start-Up India.

This year the Embassy has coordinated with TiE Delhi, Yes Bank, Yes Global Institute and CNBC’s Young Turks to hold the competition and follow up on the winner’s trip to Israel.
