Every year, competitions are held simultaneously in 21 different countries and the winner gets an intense, all-expense-paid, five-day startup experience in Tel Aviv, during the exciting and innovative DLD Festival. The winners are joined by local Israeli entrepreneurs to participate in lectures, workshops and meetings with leading Israeli investors and professionals. Participants have the opportunity to meet the coolest and smartest companies, techies, investors, designers, artists, scientists, and cultural drivers from Israel and abroad. This is the fourth annual competition and the third consecutive year India will participate in the event.

Israel, despite being a tiny country and just 67 years old, has become a global hub for art, culture, science, technology, and of course innovation. Second only to the US, Israel has generated more startup companies than other nations like Japan, China, India, Korea, Canada, France, Germany and the UK. In addition, Israel has, per capita, attracted over twice as much venture capital investment as the US and 30 times more than all the members of the European Union combined. The amount of GDP spent on R&D in Israel, is the highest in the world (3.9%).

Tel Aviv is the business capital of Israel and a leading innovation hub with a local ecosystem of world-class tech talents, dozens of leading multinationals and hundreds of tech star startups. The local ecosystem includes renowned world-class talent, leading multinational R&D centers, startup incubators, accelerators and co-working spaces, and informal networking events almost every day of the week. All this is supported by the highly experienced financial and business services which accompany the ever growing Israeli high-tech industry.

Pavan Thatha (Shield Square), who won the Indian finals in 2014, said “Participating in Startup Tel Aviv was a great learning experience for us. We had the opportunity to have one-to-one interaction with serial entrepreneurs in Security Space which helped us in refining our product roadmap. DLD Tel Aviv is a must attend that provides great networking opportunities." NowFloats represented India at Start Tel-Aviv 2013 and got the opportunity to experience first-hand the very vibrant and unique entrepreneur eco-system of Israel. Ronak Kumar Samantray, co-founder of NowFloats, who travelled for this event engaged with potential partners, customers and even some future-hires during this visit. And many of these translated to successes. “But, most importantly we formed lasting connects and friendships with some of the people we met. Thank you to the Embassy of Israel in New Delhi and TiE Delhi!”, said Ronak.
