Indian startup Mimyk wins the Start JLM (Jerusalem) competition in New Delhi today, held by the Embassy of Israel with the support of the Department of Science & Technology (Government of India), TiE and YES Bank.

Mimyk will travel to the Startup Nation’s Capital, Jerusalem, to take part in a week long innovation ‘boost camp’ for early stage startups. In addition, Mimyk and the four other finalists in the competition have been awarded access to startup incubators in India by the DST in association with the Zone Incubator.

Ambassador Daniel Carmon congratulated the winners and finalists alike: “Mimyk and the other top 4 startups are not the only winners today, the relations between India and Israel have won a big prize as well. The Indo-Israeli growing partnership is advancing in every field thanks to the promotion of innovation in India and in Israel, as well as the meeting of minds between our two ecosystems.”

Mimyk, presented by Shanthanu Chakravarthy, is a spin-off from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. They are incubated at the Society for Innovation and Development (SID), IISc. They work on developing immersive medical simulations for training healthcare practitioners. Their technology enables training healthcare professionals through the use of advanced simulation technology. They combine haptics, design, Virtual Reality (VR), and internet based content delivery model for providing engaging interactive medical simulations.
Virtual Reality (VR) together with haptics offers an immersive, flexible, and cost-effective method for training doctors in endoscopy procedures. The current focus at Mimyk is an affordable and immersive endoscopy training device. Their team has research and design background and we associate with IISc research labs from where the core technology was conceived. To support their work they have raised government grants that support the idea to proof of concept development.
