New Delhi, 26th April, 2015: Staff from the Israeli Embassy in Delhi will join Embassy in Kathmandu to assist the overall coordination of Israeli humanitarian efforts in the aftermath of the Nepal earthquake. First planes carrying assessment teams, search and rescue experts and medical personnel and supplies are on their way from Israel to Kathmandu, under direct instruction of PM Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israeli Ambassador to India, Daniel Carmon, who is in constant contact with Indian authorities to coordinate access for the Israeli relief effort, expressed his appreciation for the constructive response from Indian authorities. “I am thankful to my Indian counterparts for their facilitation”.  Carmon also pointed out that the people and government of Israel cannot stay indifferent to the tragedy of the people who were affected by the earthquake. “We are extending our heartfelt condolences to the people and governments of Nepal and India”. Responding to the Nepal tragedy, he added, Israel will be using its experience from past relief efforts – including in the aftermath of the 2001 earthquake in Gujarat -   in order to help those affected in Nepal.
