    (Communicated by the MFA Spokesperson)

Within the framework of strengthening the bilateral relationship between Israel and India and with the desire to upgrade the commercial and tourism relationships, the Minister of the Interior Rabbi Arie Deri approved yesterday (Wednesday, 5 April 2017) the outline to the visa agreement between the two countries, which is the result of cooperation between the Ministry of the Interior and the Population Authority.  Within the framework of the improved agreement, Israeli citizens wishing to travel to India on business or as tourists will receive a multi-entry visa valid for five years. The agreement grants identical terms to Indian citizens wishing to visit Israel.

In expressing his satisfaction with the initiative, Minister of the Interior Deri said:  "The initiative is a correct and important move towards strengthening the Israel-India bilateral relationship, and will have a great contribution from both a political and an economic perspective. The visa will enable Israelis to develop their business with India and Indian citizens will be able to do the same in Israel."

The agreement will be authorized within the next few weeks.
