Yesterday (Monday November 12, 2018), beginning at 16:30 and continuing throughout the night, Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on Israel, firing over 400 rockets from the Gaza strip into Israeli towns and communities.
Hamas’ belligerent attack by Hamas has resulted in dozens of civilian casualties and has caused extensive damage to property and infrastructure. By deliberately targeting Israeli civilians on the one hand and using the Palestinian civilian population in Gaza as human shields, the Hamas terror organization is perpetrating what can only be viewed as a double war crime.
The Hamas attack has brought civilian life in southern Israel to a standstill, forcing people to remain close to bomb shelters and unable to attend their workplaces. Over 250,000 Israeli children are unable to attend school as the Hamas rocket barrage continues. Municipal elections in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council, scheduled for today, have also been cancelled due to the attack.
The IDF Spokesperson reports that in response to the severe terror attack of rockets and mortars fired from Gaza at Israeli territory, IDF fighter jets targeted dozens of Hamas and PIJ military targets throughout the Gaza Strip as well as a storage warehouse in Khan Yunis, a military compound in Zaytun and a weapons manufacturing site in Sheik Omdan.
In addition, the Israeli Navy targeted a unique vessel belonging to Hamas' naval forces in the Nuseirat Harbor of the southern Gaza Strip.
Over 100 military targets were struck, including three strategic military targets and Hamas' governmental structures used for military purposes.
The IDF views these continued attacks with great severity and holds the Hamas terror organization responsible for all events transpiring in the Gaza Strip and emanating from it. Hamas will bear the consequences for its actions.
