First IIAP and first CoE inaugurated in Tamilnadu

    The first Indo-Israel Agriculture project for cut flowers in India and first Centre of Excellence in Thally, Tamil Nadu got inaugurated today by Mashav Head Israel, Ambassador Gil Haskel, Israel  Bengaluru Consulate's Consul General Dana Kursh and Mashav Head India, Dan Aluf. This is the 15th Centre of Excellence in India that has been inaugurated and will be fully operational.
     
    The Centre of excellence in Thally is the first Indo-Israel joint program for cut flowers out of the 26 active  Indo-Israel joint agricultural program in India.
     
    Israeli experts are visiting the Centre in Thally since its establishment in 2013 , sharing knowledge and technologies with the local farmers and educating them about the art of floriculture and various horticultural methods through seminars.  Many new projects for the welfare of the farmers and training sessions for horticulture enthusiasts are in pipeline at the COE in Thally.
     
    Ambassador Haskel will also  award two $10,000 grants to MASHAV Alumni to continue their projects in women empowerment and farmer empowerment in India.
     
    Ambassador Daniel Carmon said, "The IIAP is MASHAV's biggest project outside of Israel, and it holds a significant portion of our bilateral relations. The success story of our agricultural cooperation is second to none, and it is only the beginning. We hope to see the same achievements in the fields of water, innovation and academia."
