The official inauguration of Israel and Vietnam’s Joint Dairy-Farm Demonstration Project took place at the farm premises near Ho Chi Minh City in the presence of distinguished representatives from Ho Chi Minh People’s Committee, as well as from the local Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (August 27, 2013).

The State of Israel was represented by Ambassador Daniel Carmon, Head of MASHAV; Israel’s Ambassador to Vietnam H.E. Meirav Eilon Shahar; Daniel Werner, the project’s manager at MASHAV-CINADCO; and Gonen Harel, MASHAV’s long-term dairy expert residing in Vietnam.
In his address, Ambassador Carmon stated that “Our fruitful partnership is based on mutual understanding. This unique enterprise, which combines demonstration of advanced technologies and human capacity building, will benefit not only the people of Ho Chi Minh, but also people from the whole region, creating yet another base for technical cooperation between our two countries jointly cooperating for the attainment of sustainable development in Vietnam and further strengthening the long-standing close cooperation and most friendly relations between the governments and peoples of Vietnam and Israel.”

During the ceremony, celebrating twenty years of diplomatic relations between Israel and Vietnam, Ambassador Carmon signed a Memorandum of Understanding for extended cooperation in the field of dairy farming between the two countries.

The project includes the construction of a state-of-the-art milking parlor with a herd of 100 milking cows (pure Holstein Frisian cows) and 80 replacement heifers, as well as computerized recording systems; modern and intensive cooling systems; and veterinary care, including preventative treatments. All the machinery and equipment, as well as computerized software, is Israeli made.
