Gary Kenzer of Skokie Illinois the first National USA Executive Director of Honest Reporting began work for the organization in September 2006. Prior to his work with Honest Reporting, he was the National Director for Magen David Adom USA, another Israeli based organization. Other Jewish agencies he has worked with includes the Jewish Community Centers of Chicago, and B’nai B’rith Youth Organization (BBYO) where he was a Regional Director in Illinois and for the Kentucky Indiana and Ohio Region. He also consults with his professional association on political advocacy issues and trains over 500 students a year on becoming political advocates for the profession of Social Work and the clients, families and communities served.
Gary believes in knowing his organizations from the inside out. This gives him a deep understanding of the inner workings of his organizations which makes him an effective and dynamic speaker. Kenzer has spoken at national and international conferences over the last ten years. In his first week with Honest Reporting, he traveled to Israel and worked with and learned first hand how senior media editors and other Honest Reporting researchers manage media bias through their research, and reporting.
Gary is also a true lover of Israel on a personal basis. He is a founding lay leader of the Community Foundation for Jewish Education’s, Ta’am Yisrael which takes post bar and bat mitzvah young people to Israel for their first experience every February for one week. He had taken well over 1000 young teens to Israel for their first experience there in this program. He has also led numerous missions to Israel in his professional life.
Gary has been in the non profit since 1984 when he graduated from the University Of Illinois Jane Addams College Of Social Work. He is certified by the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW).
Gary has presented at many regional, national and international conferences on Jewish communal issues for well over 20 years. In addition, Gary has just recently been published in the RAVSAK Jewish Educators Journal on Israel advocacy. For HonestReporting, Gary has spoken at well over 500 locations since 2006. To date, Gary has been in television shows in 10 cities across America and in Jerusalem on Israel related issues and can be seen in several YouTube videos on Israel subjects.
Gary is married to Cynthia and they have a daughter Sarah.
