Consul General Eitan Levon personally congratulated Shahar Dori, Houston Ballet’s first Israeli dancer, for being named to the prestigious Dance magazine's 25 to Watch in 2016 list. Shahar was selected from hundreds of nominations to be deemed a breakout star.

Earlier in 2015, he was featured in Jewish News Service article entitled, From Haifa to Houston: Israeli Ballet Dancer Makes Unlikely Dream Come True.

A native of Haifa, Shahar began dancing at the age of 16. He trained on scholarship for two years at the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company. In Israel, he received the distinguished "Keren Sharet" award for a ballet by the American-Israel Cultural Foundation. As a result, he was selected by famous Israeli contemporary dancer Ido Tamor for a full Summer intensive progam at the Montgomery Ballet in Alabama.

Shahar joined the Houston Ballet II in August 2011. Within a year, he was made a Corps de Ballet member of the Houston Ballet.
