Israeli President Shimon Peres is scheduled to arrive in Washington D.C. this week for his last trip to the United States as President. During the trip,. President Peres is slated to meet with United States President Barack Obama and receive the Congressional Gold Medal.

The President of Israel Shimon Peres is scheduled to depart on June 24 for a visit to the United States during which he will have a final diplomatic meeting with President Barack Obama at the White House. He is slated to receive on June 26 the Congressional Gold Medal at a ceremony in the United States Congress, where he will deliver remarks before members of the House and the Senate.
Expected to participate are House Speaker John Boehner, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi.
President Peres is the first sitting President of the State of Israel to receive the award.
President Peres will also be the guest of honor at an event to champion U.S.-Israel relations hosted by Israel's Ambassador to the United States Ron Dermer (Wed., June 25). The event will be attended by leading figures of the American administration, including senators, members of congress and opinion leaders. President Peres will also conduct a series of diplomatic meetings, including one with the U.N. Secretary General (Sun., June 29).
