The reconstruction of the Gaza Strip is not just an international interest but a goal fully embraced by the Government of Israel as well. We must do everything we can to prevent Hamas from undermining our efforts.

Following is the letter sent by Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General Dr. Dore Gold to the Hon. Helen Clark, Administrator of the UNDP after the arrest of the humanitarian aid worker employed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) who was arrested and charged by Israel with helping Hamas:

    Dear Ms. Clark,

As you know, a humanitarian aid worker employed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) was arrested on July 16 and charged by Israel with helping Hamas by providing it with material assistance for its military efforts against Israel.

Over a decade ago, Hamas sought to use the UNDP to funnel funds to its terrorist coffers. I know you share with me the outrage of Hamas exploiting international humanitarian aid organizations for its own nefarious purposes.

The reconstruction of the Gaza Strip is not just an international interest but a goal fully embraced by the Government of Israel as well. We must do everything we can to prevent Hamas from undermining our efforts.

    Sincerely yours,

    Dore Gold
    Director General
