    Please note that citizens of Australia, Fiji and Papua New Guinea holding a national passport of one of those countries and were born there are eligable for a visa on arrival. Forms are provided on arrival to Israel, and a 3-month tourist visa is issued. Australian citizens travelling to Israel on official business. Citizens of Australia, Fiji and Papua New Guinea visiting for other purposes (such as work, study, official business etc.) require a visa.

     
    In addition, Australia, Fiji and Papua New Guinea passport holders that were born in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq or Iran need to apply for an entry permit through the ministry of intirior - only a contact (friend / family member / travel agent) in Israel is able to apply for this permit.

    Visas may be extended (for a nominal fee) in Israel at offices of the Ministry of Interior.

    Please note: in case of applying for a visa for a minor (under 18) you need to fill the form “Permission of a parent to issue visa for a minor” (Click Here to download) and sign it in the Israeli embassy in front of the consular OR sign the form in front of Public Notary in Australia and then apostille stamp. Make sure you attach parents' passport copies signed by a Public Notary.

    If you are holding a passport that is not Australian, once the visa has been processed, the applicant will be required to arrive to the embassy for an interview before it will be issued.

    Visitor Visa

    A B/2 Visitor Visa is granted to someone who wishes to stay in Israel for a short period (such as travel, business meeting or study in a Hebrew ulpan). A person who enters Israel on a B/2 Visitor Visa is not allowed to work in the State of Israel. A B/2 Visitor Visa is valid for up to three months from the date of issue. The duration of the stay in Israel will be determined by the Border Police. A visitor who wishes to extend his visit may submit an application at one of the regional population administration offices of the Ministry of the Interior, a business meeting or study in a Hebrew ulpan).

    IMPORTANT: If you are a citizen of a country that does not have diplomatic relations with the State of Israel, the Embassy recommends that you do not make bookings for your travel until after a visa has been issued. The Embassy is not responsible for any financial liability you incur on the assumption that you will be granted a visa. The Israeli officials will only accept requests that are within 45 days of arrival to Israel. An answer will only be received approximately a week prior to your requested arrival date. Please contact the Consular Department for an application form.

    ​In order to apply for a tourist visa to Israel, you need to post the following documents to the embassy in Canberra:

    1.     Visa Application (Visa Application Form.pdf)​ – filled and signed - ​do not glue a picture on the application​

    2.     Your current passport (needs to be valid for at least 6 months after the date of departure from Israel)

    3.     Valid Australian Visa

    4.     Your travel itinerary, flights and timetable - for the next three months

    5.     Hotel booking confirmation - for the next three months​

    6.     Two 5X5 Passport pictures in color

    Note that we do not accept pictures of any other size. If we receive photos of the incorrect size, we will not handle the application and everything will be returned to the sender.

    7.     A detailed bank statement for the last three months

    8.     Savings accounts transactions for the last three months

    9.     Employment letter

    10.  Valid lease / contract / any proof stating that you have property in Australia (driver's license is not acceptable)

    11.  Medical insurance for the travel period

    12.  Photocopy of ALL of the pages in your former passport

    13.  If you are married, attach a photocopy of your marriage certificate + photocopy of your spouse's passport (if they're not an Australian citizen - a photocopy of their Australian visa)

    14.  Fee for 2024 (when depositing the money, make sure to deposit under your name and attach confirmation of deposit)

    If the applicant is a minor, both parents and child must book an appointment at the embassy and bring the following:

    1.     Original birth certificate + Apostille​ stamp

    2.     Application form for minor signed by both parents

    3.     Both parents + child's passports

    Student Visa

    This visa is grandted only for the duation of the studies in Israel (one week before it begins and one day after the final date)

    A Student Visa is granted to those who want to study in Israel in elementary and high schools, academic institutions, yeshiva and youth institutions of the Jewish Agency. A Student Visa is valid for up to one year and for multiple entrances and exits. Recipients of this visa are not permitted to work in Israel.

    If you are not holding an australian / Papua New Guinea passport, once the visa has been processed, the applicant will be required to arrive to the embassy for an interview before it will be issued.

    In order to apply for a student visa to Israel, you need to post the following documents to the embassy in Canberra:

    1.     Visa Application (Visa Application Form.pdf) – filled and signed

    2.     Your passport (needs to be valid for at least 6 months from date of departure)

    3.     Original birth certificate

    4.     Photocopy of both parents passports 

    5.     Your travel itinerary, flights & timetable. 

    6.     Accommodation arrangements.

    7.     Two 5X5 Passport pictures in color

    Note that we do not accept pictures of any other size. If we receive photos of the incorrect size, we will not handle the application and everything will be returned to the sender.

    8.     A bank statement covering the last 3 months, or a statement from your parents or sponsor that state they will financially support you for the entire duration of your studies and provide their own bank statement.

    9.     Invitation letter from the university.

    10.  Medical insurance  for the time abroad – including COVID-19

    11.  Covid-19 vaccination certificate

    12.  Valid Australian visa – only if you are not Australian

    13.  A statement from your local university that you will continue your enrollment in Australia upon finishing your term in Israel.

    14.  Valid lease / contract / any proof stating that you have property in Australia

    15. Photocopy of all the pages of your old passport

    15. Fee for 2024 (when depositing the money, make sure to deposit under your name and attach confirmation of deposit)​

    16.  Prepaid self-addressed registered envelope

    17.  Your exact return address + contact details

     

    NOTE: Working in Israel on a student visa is not permitted

    Work Visa

    If you wish to work in Israel, you must first find secure employment in Israel and ask your prospective employer to apply for a work visa for you there.

    A B/1 Work Visa is for a person whose stay in Israel is approved for the purpose of work. This visa is granted solely with the approval of the Ministry of the Interior. A fee must be paid by the applicant when their application has been submitted to one of the population administration offices of the Ministry of the Interior. Upon receipt of approval from the Ministry of the Interior, the consular will issue the B/1 Work Visa and will interview the applicant.

    The validity of the B/1 Work Visa will be in accordance with Ministry of Interior guidelines. The worker must enter Israel within the period of time specified in the visa and can remain for the specified period of time. Once in Israel a person with a B/1 Work Visa can apply to the population administration office of the Ministry of the Interior to have their visa extended.

    In order to apply for a work visa to Israel, you need to post the following documents to the embassy in Canberra:

    1.     Visa Application (Visa Application Form.pdf) – filled and signed

    2.     Your passport - needs to be valid for at least 6 months from date of return

    3.     Two 5X5 Passport pictures in color

    Diplomatic / Service Visa

    In order to apply for a Diplomatic/Service visa to Israel, you need to post the following documents to the embassy in Canberra:

    1.     Visa Application – OfficialVisaApplication.pdf​ – filled and signed

    2.     Two 5X5 Passport pictures in color

    3.     Official letter from DFAT

    4.     Valid Passport.

    5.     Return to sender envelope

     

    In case the mission is over three months, the letter from DFAT needs to include the details of the person that is being replaced. 



    UN Visa

    This visa is for a representative of any UN body. 

    In order to apply for a Diplomatic/Service visa to Israel, you need to post the following documents to the embassy in Canberra:

    1.     Visa Application – OfficialVisaApplicationUN.pdf – filled and signed

    2.     Two 5X5 Passport pictures in color

    3.     Official letter from DFAT.

    4.     Valid Passport.

    5.     Return to sender envelope

    In case the mission is over three months, the letter from DFAT needs to include the details of the person that is being replaced. 



    UN Visa – UNESCO / UNRWA / OCHA / OHCHR

    This visa is for a representative of any UN body. 

    In order to apply for a Diplomatic/Service visa to Israel, you need to post the following documents to the embassy in Canberra:

    1.     Visa Application – OfficialVisaApplicationUnescoUnrwaOchaOhcher.pdf  filled and signed

    2.     Two 5X5 Passport pictures in color

    3.     Official letter from DFAT.

    4.     Valid Passport.

    5.     Return to sender envelope


    A UN application without an UNLP will need to provide:

    1.     The applicant's CV. 

    2.     Copy of the applicant's employment contract 

    In case the mission is over three months, the letter from DFAT needs to include the details of the person that is being replaced. 



    National Project Visas – Birthright and MASA

    This visa is grandted only for the duation of the studies in Israel (one week before it begins and one day after the final date)

    For participants in Israeli national projects such as Taglit - Birthright Israel or MASA, or in other projects initiated and organized by the Jewish Agency, a visa will be issued according to the project's purpose and duration.


    Please note that the visa can only be issued at a maximum of three months prior to your travel to Israel.


    NB: The above mentioned participants are exempted from paying a visa fee.


    In order to apply for this visa to Israel, you need to post the following documents to the embassy in Canberra:

    1.     Visa Application (Visa Application Form.pdf)​ – filled and signed

    2.     Your passport - needs to be valid for six months beyond the date of your departure
    from Israel.

    3.     Confirmation letter of participation in the program.

    4.     Two 5X5 Passport pictures in color

    5.     Original birth certificate

    6.     Copy of the parents passports.

    Note we do not accept photos of any other size. If we receive photos of the incorrect size, we will not handle the application and everything will be sent back to the sender.

    If the applicant is a minor, both parents and child must book an appointment at the embassy and bring the following:

    1.     Original birth certificate + Apostille​ stamp

    Aliya Visa

    Aliya is the immigration of Jews from the diaspora to the land of Israel. According to an arrangement between the government of Israel and the Jewish Agency, the latter handles immigration (Aliya) to Israel. This is to say, the Jewish Agency is responsible for checking candidates, providing advice and guidance, seeing to absorption arrangements, referrals to immigrant centers, places of study, employment, etc.

    The Jewish Agency can recommend a person's immigration and transfer their application (together with a written recommendation) to an official representative of the State of Israel for Aliya.

    The Israeli Embassy in Australia will provide the visa once the Aliyah application has been approved and a letter of approval with the applicant's name was presented. 

    Please note that the visa can only be issued at a maximum of three months prior to your travel to Israel.

     

    In order to apply for an Aliyah visa to Israel, you need to post the following documents to the embassy in Canberra:

    1.     Visa Application (AliyaVisaApplication.pdf​) – filled and signed

    2.     Letter from the Aliya representative / Jewish Agency

    3.     Your passport - need to be valid at least for one year on the day you enter Israel

    4.     Two 5X5 Passport pictures in color

    Please note we do not accept photos of any other size. If we receive photos of the incorrect size, we will not handle the application and everything will be sent back to the sender.


    If the applicant is a minor, both parents and child must book an appointment at the embassy and bring the following:

    1.     Original birth certificate + Apostille​ stamp

    Work Holiday Visa 

    Conditions and requirements:

    ·         The applicant’s age is between 18-31 years 

    ·         This is the first time the applicant is participating in this program.


    In order to apply for a Work Holiday visa to Israel, you need to post the following documents to the embassy in Canberra:

    1.     Visa Application (Visa Application Form.pdf) – filled and signed

    2.     Your passport - needs to be valid for at least 18 months from time of departure

    3.     Police clearance certificate

    4.     Itinerary and Accommodation arrangements

    5.     A bank statement of the last 3 months

    6.     Letter from your parents / guardian stating that they will financially support your travel.

    7.     Medical certificate from your doctor.

    8.     Medical insurance for the duration of your time in Israel – Including COVID

    9.     Visa fee - please see Fee Chart 2022

    10.  Two 5X5 Passport pictures in color

    Please note we do not accept photos of any other size. If we receive photos of the incorrect size, we will not handle the application and everything will be sent back to the sender.​

    11.  We may require all documents to be Original documents.

    12.  Please note that once your visa is approved, we will need all Original documents to be sent to the Embassy


    When the consular team approves the documentation in full, it will contact the applicant to come in person to the embassy in order to conduct an interview; the last assessment in the procedure.

    NOTE: You must provide courier bag for passport return
    If you have applied for your passport by post OR if you cannot return to the Embassy in person to collect your passport you must include an additional courier bag with the rest of your documentation (so that the consular can return your passport to you via mail). The additional courier bag can either be sent with the rest of your documentation by post or brought to the embassy in person.
    The courier bag must fit the following requirements:
    a) It must be an unsealed Australia post domestic prepaid satchels, complete with tracking number.
    b) The courier bag must have your name and postal address filled out on the front (ready for the consular to return it to you).
    The Embassy will not take any responsibility for incorrectly addressed or ineligible printing on the bag. Be sure to take note of the tracking number. Delays in the sending of your documents may occur if any of the above is incorrect.
    You can not send cash or cheque by mail - You must pay by direct bank deposit.
