Police Certificates are intended for individuals who have resided in Israel for a period exceeding three months and require certification of their lack of a criminal record or involvement in criminal proceedings, either for their government or a foreign institution.
As per Israeli law, the certificate cannot be handed directly to the applicant; instead, it is transmitted directly to the official entity that has requested it.
To begin the application process for a Police Clearance Certificate, you can submit your request through the Israeli Embassy Consular Section. The certificate is provided in both English and Hebrew.
Here are some key points to consider:
- If the police clearance certificate is required as part of an Australian visa application, please provide the full address of the Australian immigration department responsible for your request. In the absence of such an address, the certificate will be retained at the embassy until its expiration after one year, at which point it will be destroyed.
- If the police clearance certificate is needed for a job application, kindly forward a request letter from your employer along with a registered ABN and full postal address within Australia.
- The certificate is valid for one year from the date of issuance.
- Be aware of a processing period that can take at least 6-8 weeks from the date of your application submission until its’ arrival at the embassy. Therefore, allow sufficient time for this process, as requests cannot be expedited.
