Update Family and Personal Status

     This service is provided to Israeli citizens who have changed their Marital Status following marriage, divorce, or widowhood and need to update the Ministry of the Interior in Israel.

     

     Every request to update Marital Status requires the presentation of a certificate (marriage, divorce, and death) verified with an apostille stamp.

     If your Marital Status has changed several times over the years, you need to update the Ministry of the Interior in Israel about these changes. Citizens must update any changes to their  Marital Status up to the most recent relevant change. 

     

    Who can apply?

     • Israeli citizens (18+) who live abroad and whose Marital Status has changed.

     • Adult Israeli citizens whose Marital Status has changed due to marriage/divorce in the Rabbanut in Israel, who need to be updated in the population registry

     • For the appointment at the Consulate, please bring your Israeli passport. Foreigners will present a foreign passport

     

    How to apply

     • An application will be submitted to the Consulate. The Ministry of Interior in Israel will make the change that is applied for about two (2) months after the Consulate receives the application.

     

    Required Documentation

     • A photocopy of an Israeli passport is required when applying to update marital status. Additionally, a photocopy of the spouse’s passport (whether Israeli or not) is required.

     • Original marriage/divorce certificate with Apostille stamp/certificate. Application to marry does not constitute a marriage certificate.

     • In case one of the spouses is a foreign citizen, you need a declaration regarding his previous personal Status before marrying as a notary statement in front of the consul.
