A year into the COVID-19 crisis, it has become clear that when the pandemic subsides, the world will not return to business as usual. Israel offers its spirit of innovation to join hands with other nations, in order to better prepare for the new normal reality.  The biggest challenge facing humanity is climate change, with all that it entails: species’ loss, pandemics, and devastating natural disasters may well define the near future. How can the international community take this monumental challenge to humankind and turn it into an opportunity? In fact, this opportunity may even contribute to the realization of the international Sustainable Development Goals. Israel is especially well placed to offer a wide range of solutions, whether low- or high-tech tools and changes occurring around the globe. Israel is developing technologies and solutions that are relevant for both developed and developing countries alike.

As the 'Start-Up Nation', we are calling on others to join us in an international virtual event that will showcase imaginative technological solutions to the various challenges that humanity will need to address.

We envisage a virtual worldwide event that will be opened by the Foreign Minister of Israel, H.E. Mr. Gabi Ashkenazi, wherein leading figures engaged in the fight against climate change from all five continents will congratulate the participants for joining hands during Earth Day 2021. All 108 of Israel’s diplomatic missions will participate in this virtual event on April 22, 2021 at 6:00 PM Israel time, and will also host local events and activities to mark the occasion.

After the official opening, participants will be invited to visit a virtual exhibition that will showcase technological solutions developed in Israel. These will include solar technologies and a specially developed glass for solar panels; home-bio energy for small- and large-scale projects; technologies for reforestation and fighting desertification; solutions for food security such as 3D-printing of meat and the development of alternative proteins; adaptive and mitigating water solutions for home consumption as well as agriculture; digital health solutions; and much more. The stroll through the exhibition will be interactive, and will include virtual rooms for discussions with the developers.

We hope that you will join us on the day of the event!
