Regina Pacis College, Garki, Abuja was
chosen to receive the computer classroom donation under this project as a way
of supporting the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the
Education Sector. It is important to us that young children in schools,
especially young girls, have early access to technology particularly in the
areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
This donation is in memory of Golda Meir,
the former Prime Minister of Israel.
Ambassador Michael Freeman, Israel’s ambassador to Nigeria, said "It is my great honor to represent the State of Israel in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, promoting the ties that exist between our countries today in the areas of Culture, Agriculture, Innovation and Education." He ended by wishing all the students of this renowned institution a wonderful learning experience and hope that this donation helps in opening doors for them in the future.
Also speaking at the event was Monsignor Kenneth Enang – Chairman Education Commission for the Archdiocese of Abuja, expressed his gratitude to the Israeli embassy for donating the educational facilities. In response, Rev. Sister Maria Igbo, Principal of Regina Pacis College, said the educational facilities would help improve teaching and learning at the school.
The event was graced by the Catholic Cardinal, Cardinal John Onaiyekan. and others.
The highlights of the event were singing of the Nigerian, Israeli anthem, cultural dance exhibition by the students and the opening of the Center by the Ambassador.
This project would not have been
possible without the wonderful cooperation and partnership of: the Africa
Division of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Skill-G Nigeria Ltd. and
the Innov8 hub.
