Bible Contest Event

The Old Testament Bible Contest in Nigeria

  •

Israel’s first Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion welcomed the creation of a Bible contest in 1958, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the State of Israel.

As that first competition was broadcasted on the radio 60 years ago, the pulse of the nation raced. Israelis followed the competition with a sense of pride that swelled from being the country of the Bible. Since then, the Bible contest has been an annual event that has drawn Biblical scholars and enthusiasts from all ends of the globe to compete on their knowledge of the old testament.

Over the years, the contest has helped to bring people together - people of diverse religious backgrounds, stressing the importance and relevance of biblical education.

This Bible contest is organized in collaboration with the Israel Ministry of Education, Christians United for Israel Prayer Outreach and additional partners. It will commence in all states of the Federation of Nigeria beginning September, 2018. The competition is open to all candidates from the age of 18 and above.

Registration for the Bible contest begins on 29th of August, 2018 through the following link and will close on the 30th of September, 2018.

    6.      The first two stages will be internet-based and the final stage will be handwritten in front of a panel of professional judges that will come from the Israeli Ministry of Education. The final will be held in Abuja in November this year.
    7.      The theme of this competition is “Living Peacefully in the Promised Land.”  Some of the contest questions will be derived from relevant books and verses in the old testament that deal with this theme.

We believe that holding a country-wide bible competition in all six geopolitical zones can serve as a cultural bridge between our two peoples--Nigerians and Israelis. We hope that the message of peace and coexistence will reverberate near and far.

    Let the competition begin!
