    Dr. Birnbaum is a Brenda Danet post-doc at the Smart Institute of Communication at Hebrew University, and is now entering his third year as a visiting Israeli professor at SUNY Binghamton. 

    He received his Ph.D. from Hebrew University after conducting research on the history of Egyptian cinema. He has published many articles about film and media, including "Historical Discourse in the Media of the Palestinian National Authority" and “Iraq in Contemporary Egyptian Cinema Impotence and Lack of Interest.” 

    Dr. Birnbaum was also a research fellow at the Harry S. Truman Institute for the Advancement of Peace at Hebrew University and has participated in many conferences at Israeli universities.
