Dr. Fischer is an associate natural scientist at the RAND Corporation where she focuses on health information technology research and policy. She recently completed a medical informatics fellowship, funded by a National Library of Medicine Fellowship, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She earned her BA in biochemical sciences from Harvard College, an MD and PhD in Clinical and Population Health Research from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and an MMSc in Clinical Informatics from Harvard Medical School.
Shira has spent significant time in Israel, including a year with Young Judaea prior to college, a year on the Dorot Fellowship for American Jewish leaders, and this past summer, when she and her young family experienced firsthand rushing to a bomb shelter for protection from rockets from Gaza. Shira is fluent in Hebrew and her husband, also a physician, is a dual citizen. Her brother recently made aliya and served in the IDF.
