Dr. Mayer is an architect and a researcher at the Harvard Center for Green Buildings and Cities. His work focuses on life cycle innovation in the built environment and seeks to combine advances in manufacturing technology, material development, assembly techniques, and digital platforms for the purpose of achieving leaner construction and deconstruction processes. Matan was previously a research fellow at the Design Robotics Group at Harvard University, the Institute for Lightweight Structures at the University of Stuttgart, the Composite Construction Laboratory at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and the Emerging Material Technologies Group at the University of Arizona. As an architect, he has been involved in a rage of transportation, civic, and cultural projects in the Middle East and Europe. Most recently, he co-authored a winning competition proposal for the design of a national library in Jerusalem. He holds a professional B.Arch degree from Tel Aviv University and post-professional masters and doctoral degrees in building technology from Harvard University.
