    Classical Islam in the Service of Contemporary Issues; Islam and Gender; the Question of Jerusalem in Islam; Muslim Minorities in the West; Qur'an Hermeneutics.

    Born and raised in Israel, Dr. Leah Kinberg earned a BA in Biblical Studies and Arabic Language and Literature and an MA in Islamic Studies from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She later went on to earn a Ph.D. at The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. 

    Over the years, Dr. Kinberg has been affiliated with several universities as a visiting professor, including The University of Calgary (Calgary, Canada), The University of New South Wails (Sydney, Australia) and Simon Frazer University (Vancouver, Canada). Her research and writing interests include Classical Islam in the service of contemporary issues, modern Islamic rhetoric, Islam and Gender, the question of Jerusalem in Islam, Muslim minorities in the West, the function of dreams in Medieval Islamic literature and Qur’an hermeneutics.
