Lollapalooza. The name alone is synonymous with greatness. As one of the hottest music festivals in the world, Lollapalooza brings an outrageous collection of the best bands every year for one epic weekend in Chicago’s Grant Park. Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Black Keys, Jack White, and Franz Ferdinand are just some of the names that took the stage this year. Oh, and did we mention the return of Black Sabbath?
Started by Jane’s Addiction  front man Perry Farrell in 1991 as a farewell tour for Jane’s Addiction, the festival has grown to become the hottest ticket in the universe, along with Coachella and Bonnaroo.

While it’s been held in Chicago since 2005, Lollapalooza is going global. In addition to previously announced expansions to Brazil and Chile, Lollapalooza’s founder announced he will be bringing the festival to Tel Aviv in 2013!

Tel Aviv is of course, the ultimate party town with a thriving underground rock scene. But the arrival of Lollapalooza marks the first major music festival to ever hit the Israeli city. “Israel is an incredibly sophisticated music market,” said Mark Geiger of WME Entertainment, a partner of Lollapalooza LLC. “Consumers have a voracious appetite for entertainment, yet there has never been a major music festival. To me, this combination screams Lollapalooza.”

Said Farrel in a video announcing Lollapalooza Israel, Israel is an “international music community that listens to everything we all listen to, but the artists weren’t traveling there so it was an opportunity.”
And that opportunity is going to happen August 20-22 in Tel Aviv’s Yarkon Park! The lineup has yet to be announced, only with a tease on their official website, “50 shows of the leading singers and bands from all over the world in 3 days.” Who would you like to see perform in Israel? Arctic Monkeys? Foo Fighters? Sound off in the comments below!
