Amb. Haley: We must always honor and remember the lives lost during one of the most horrible times in history. There is a lesson here. Leadership is not about power. Leadership is the acknowledgment and value of human dignity. We must always choose a side.

(Communicated by the Yad Vashem Spokesperson)

The United States Permanent Representative to the United Nations Nikki Haley visited Yad Vashem - The World Holocaust Remembrance Center today (Friday 9 June 2017). The Ambassador was guided through the Holocaust History Museum by Dr. Robert Rozett, Director of Yad Vashem Libraries, participated in a memorial ceremony in the Hall of Remembrance, visited the Children's Memorial and signed the Yad Vashem Guest Book.

During her visit, Ambassador Haley was presented with the Yad Vashem Album, To Bear Witness, a catalog of stories and images displayed at Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center. Additionally, she received the "Echoes and Reflections," course book, a comprehensive multimedia program designed for secondary-school educators in the United States to teach about the Holocaust.

At the end of the visit Haley wrote, "We must always honor and remember the lives lost during one of the most horrible times in history. There is a lesson here. Leadership is not about power. Leadership is the acknowledgment and value of human dignity. We must always choose a side."
