The Irish ambassador to Israel was summoned this morning to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following the participation of Dublin's Lord Mayor Mícheál Mac Donncha in an anti-Israel demonstration in Ramallah and on the backdrop of two hostile decisions against Israel taken this week by the Dublin city council.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Deputy Director-General - Europe Division Rodica Radian-Gordon expressed her astonishment and deep disappointment that the lord mayor chose to participate in such a blatant anti-Israel event. This is especially disturbing when taken in context with the timing of the event – the week during which Israel marks the Holocaust.

The Government of Israel expects an official public response from the Government of Ireland with regard to the conduct of the both the Dublin city council and of the lord mayor, who are waging a campaign of hatred and discrimination against the State of Israel.
