Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman met on Wednesday (April 9 2014) in Washington with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. The two held a four-hour private meeting where they discussed various issues, including negotiations with Iran, the situation in Syria and the removal of chemical weapons from Syria, as well as other issues.
Secretary of State Kerry said that he did not blame Israel for the crisis in the talks with the Palestinians, but simply described the sequence of events and the natural difficulties in such complex and sensitive negotiations.
FM Liberman said that Israel is in favor of continuing the negotiations, and has already demonstrated its willingness and ability to make peace with Egypt and Jordan. The question is whether the Palestinians too are sincere and have a genuine desire to achieve an agreement and rather than play a game of blame.
Before the meeting with the Secretary of State, FM Liberman met with National Security Advisor Susan Rice in a private meeting lasting about an hour.
