The Embassy of Israel welcomes the passage by the U.S. Senate of bill S.921 that will allow Israeli nationals to apply for E-2 investor visas to the United States. Passage of this bill into law further enables Israeli nationals to make large investments in the U.S. economy, creating many additional jobs for Americans.

"We applaud the passage of legislation that would allow Israelis to invest more in America," Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren said. "This bill reflects the deep friendship between Israel and the United States and will stimulate mutual economic growth and increase investment opportunities."

The Government of Israel appreciates the efforts of the bill's co-sponsors, Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY), Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ), and Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL), as well as its supporters, including Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT).  This bill complements House Bill H.R. 3992 sponsored by Rep. Howard Berman (D- CA) and co-sponsored by Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX), and Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA). The bill was approved in early March by the House of Representatives by a 371-0 vote.

"Hundreds of Israeli companies operate in the United States in various industries through subsidiaries and joint ventures," Ambassador Oren said. "Extending the E-2 investor program to Israel will strengthen the U.S.-Israel alliance and the economies of both nations."
