Yaron Gamburg assumed the position of the Minister of Public Diplomacy as of July 2016, after completing one year as Counselor for Academic and Public affairs of the embassy of Israel to the United States.
Yaron Gamburg joined the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1999. His overseas assignments include: Spokesperson of the Embassy of Israel in Moscow, Russia (2000-2003), Deputy Consul General at the Consulate of Israel in Los Angeles, California (2005-2008) and Spokesperson of the Embassy of Israel in Paris, France (2010-2014). When stationed in the HQ of the Ministry, he worked in the Economic, Training and Eurasian Departments. His last position was the Director of Diplomatic Strategies.
Before joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Gamburg worked in the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption. For his military service, Mr. Gamburg served in the Investigation Department of the Military Police.
Mr. Gamburg was born in 1972 in Zhytomir, Ukraine, and immigrated to Israel in 1990. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Master's degree in Political Science from Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He is fluent in English, Russian, Hebrew, French and Ukrainian.
Mr. Gamburg is married to Delphine, who immigrated to Israel from France and also works at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They have three children.
