Itai received his undergraduate degree in Political Science and International Relations from the Open University of Israel and a master's degree in Business Administration from the Ono Academic College.
He serves as major at the IDF reserve forces at the Artillery corps and the Israeli Border Police.
Itai is married to Sarit and a father to three children.
