Elad Strohmayer is a member of Israel's
Diplomatic corps since 2010. In July 2018 Elad assumed the role of Spokesperson
of the Embassy of Israel to the United States, in Washington DC. As
spokesperson he serves as a resource for editors, journalists, and broadcasters
to receive information and official statements on issues relating to Israel,
notably in the areas of politics, economics, middle east affairs, culture, and
energy. In addition to his daily communications with local, national, and
international media, he will distribute press releases, updates and statements
on key developments. Elad will be arranging interviews and briefings for
members of the media with the ambassador, other Israeli diplomats and himself.
Elad Joined the Israeli Ministry of Foreign
Affairs' Diplomatic Training Program in February 2010. Upon completing the
diplomatic training, he assumed his first post as the Deputy Ambassador in the
Embassy of Israel in Luanda, Angola from November, 2010 through July, 2012.
In August 2012 he assumed the post of Deputy
Consul General at the Consulate General of Israel to the Mid-Atlantic Region
located in Philadelphia. During his tenure in Philadelphia, he helped
strengthening the political, economic, academic and cultural ties between
Israel and the Mid-Atlantic Region. He was invited to speak and brief a wide
range of audiences: Jewish Community, Universities, Business leaders,
interfaith clergy and many media outlets.
In September 2015, he returned to Israel and
served as Desk Officer in the North America Division of the Israeli Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, responsible for Canada, US-Israel Relations and special
projects in North America. He served in this capacity until his departure to
Washington in July 2018.
Before joining the Israeli Foreign Service,
he worked for the Jewish Agency in Israel and the United States for 8 years.
Elad holds a BA degree in Political Science and International Relations and an
MA degree in International Relations – Diplomacy and Security Studies, both from
the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Elad Strohmayer is married to Oren Ben-Yosef
since January 2015. The wedding took place in Philadelphia in a ceremony at
City Hall officiated by Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and Rabbi Michael
Beals from Delaware.
Elad Strohmayer is a native of Bat-Yam,
Israel, a suburb of Tel Aviv. He is fluent in Hebrew and English with a working
knowledge of Portuguese and French.
He is available for speaking engagements on a
wide range of topics which includes among others: LGBTQ rights in Israel form a
personal perspective, Diversity of the Israeli Society, Israeli Economy, the
American Jewish Community and its connection to Israel, Israel-US relations and
geo-political and current events updates regarding Israel in the Middle East.
