Thank
you Madam President,
While
looking at the empty seats here in the Security Council chamber, I cannot avoid
asking, where are all those delegates who had made today such emotional appeals
and called on the Security Council to act ?
Why
couldn't the delegates from Kuwait, Indonesia, Namibia, Senegal and Iceland sit
here and follow this debate until the end of it?
With
such heartbreaking statements I think that they should have stayed with us
during our important discussion.
Madam
President,
In
her remarks earlier the Lebanese delegate quoted from different UN reports. I
would expect the Lebanese delegate to first read the recent Secretary General
reports on the implementation of SC resolutions 1701 and 1559.
Perhaps
Lebanon should consider toning down its rhetoric and turning up the heat on
Hezbollah's terrorist activities.
Hezbollah
has built an arsenal of 120,000 rockets in populated areas south of the Litany
River and all over Lebanese territory.
By
operating within civilian populations and directing attacks against civilian
populations, Hezbollah is committing a double war crime.
But
I must say that I was once again touched to hear the representative of Lebanon
show such an interest in Palestinian rights.
Though
I would suggest that instead of empty words, her government should take a look
at the Palestinian refugee camps throughout Lebanon,
Where
Palestinians are kept in some of the worst conditions in the region. They are
subjected to violence, discrimination, oppression, and marginalization from
every sector of society.
Madam
President,
I
found it interesting to hear an Iranian delegate talking about Israeli
occupation, while Iran is the main occupier in the Middle East today, including
in Syria and Lebanon!
The
Iranian Revolutionary Guards is a terrorist entity, responsible for the murder
of tens of thousands of civilians in the Middle East and terror attacks around
the world.
In
Lebanon Iran is the chief sponsor and supplier of illicit advanced weapons to
Hezbollah, in blatant violation of Security Council resolutions 1559 &
1701.
Iran
and its proxies - be it the Assad regime, Hezbollah, Hamas, the
Palestinian Islamic Jihad - are a threat to International Peace and Security.
Madam
President,
Only
in the Parallel universe of the Middle East Open Debates can a Role model like
Saudi Arabia attack Israel while acting in full impunity and killing tens
of thousands of civilians in Yemen while creating a humanitarian catastrophe in
the region.
But it is very easy for Saudi Arabia to focus on the situation in
my country and echo empty concerns for human rights while hiding the fact
that today Saudi
Arabia carried out its first barbaric execution after a pause for Ramadan by
beheading one of its citizens.
This latest
beheading brings to 103 the number of executions in Saudi Arabia so far
this year, a sharp increase on the 87 recorded executions during the whole of
2014.
Madam President,
With
regard to the lengthy conspiracy theories we heard earlier from the delegate of
Venezuela. I understand that the same culture of conspiracy is also
used for daily and systematic persecution of political activists and opposition
in Venezuela.
Malaysia does not hesitate to
support Hamas terrorist organization in this chamber, it should be emphasized that Malaysia's
support to Hamas is carried out also on the
ground. Hamas trains terrorists on Malaysian soil, with the full knowledge
of the Malaysian authorities. Hamas terrorists were recruited and sent to
Malaysia for week-long parachute training, in preparation for
a cross-border kidnapping attack in Israel.
The support provided by a Security
Council member to a terrorist organization, is an obstacle
to the resumption of peace negotiations and to the improvement of the
lives of those that Malaysia claims to care about.
Thank
you Madam President.
