Remarks made yesterday by Israel’s Deputy Permanent Representative, Ambassador David Roet, after the UN adopted in consensus the framework for the Post 2015 development agenda for the next 15 years:

"Thank you co-facilitators, Madam chef de cabinet, ASG Amina Muhammad.

I would like to join others in expressing our appreciation for your hard work, dedication and long hours.

We would also like to thank the secretariat and the teams on both sides that spared no effort to support this process.

We have come a long way. Collectively we set out for an ambitious journey that has come to a conclusion today.

The text we have in front of us is a reflection of the views and priorities in the room. Throughout the negotiation we have made clear our position on various issues, as well as to the fact that the development world is too important to be used as a place to score political points. But though the document is  not perfect,  as the saying goes  “If you wait to do everything until you're sure it's right, you'll probably never do much of anything.”  This agenda are too important to let imperfection in the way and thus we decided to join consensus.

Co facilitators, our work is not done. We must now breathe life into this agenda and turn paper into practice. This will be our next challenge and Israel stands ready to take an active and constructive role.

    Thank you."
