Iran's Election to CSW and NGO Committee

Iran's Election to CSW & NGO Committee

U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon recently rebuked Iranian President Hassan Rouhani for failing to improve human rights. Nonetheless, on 23 April 2014, Iran was "elected" to the UN's Commission on the Status of Women & the UN's NGO Committee, known as the gatekeeper of civil society and human rights.

The only right Iranian women enjoy, is the right to remain silent. The only gates for NGO's in Iran, are the gates to the infamous Evin Prison, notorious for imprisoning political dissidents, human rights activists and intellectuals.

Electing Iran to these committees is like electing Al-Qaeda to chair a Committee on Counter Terrorism.
